Innovative Startup Culture in India

It all seems like it all happened just a year back when people actually started to take risks and got the courage to do something they wanted to. Well, it has been 5 years since the government started appreciating the risk takers.

The term ‘Startup’ was acknowledged for the first time 15 August 2015. This led people to step out in the open and say it out loud that they wanted to do something of their own. And that Startup Culture came into existence.

What is exactly Startup Culture?

Startup culture emphasizes creative problem solving, open communication, and flat organizational structures. Company culture defines core values by taking into account elements such as the mission statement, products, and customer service.

In simpler words, startup culture is a culture to be developed in a workplace that creates better bonds among the employees, strategic thinking and a determined mindset to move forward together.

What are the Startup Culture contributors?

To create a culture, it is important to understand that there are many factors that contribute, some maybe more, some less. But this combination, in its right proportion, makes the workplace that is needed.

1. The Right Team

Large company employees often feel underappreciated for their efforts. As opposed to this, startup employees’ individual contributions are easily acknowledged, whether they work alone or in small teams. In addition, employees at startups get a head start and are in a great position for advancement.

As a result of their many hats, they develop skills, explore interests, improve problem-solving skills, and gain leadership skills. As an employee’s sense of personal value and ownership grows, their sense of accomplishment grows as well.

2. Market & Product

Even niche products have an enormous market potential in a country that has 135,26 crore people. India’s economy has generally flourished since economic liberalization. As one of the world’s fastest-growing economies, India has an annual GDP growth rate of 6.8%. Entrepreneurs will find a large market in this country.

In the startup industry, diversity has been a major game-changer as well.  It provides startups with the challenge of marketing products to people who speak different languages, live in different cultures, and live in different regions, but it also allows them to grow enough to cater to a wide variety of people. In this way, most of these new companies are trained to cater to the global audience, thus increasing their market share.

3. Purpose/ Mission

A company’s mission statement or founding principles identify the purposes and principles that guide its decisions and practices. It is possible for any organization to formalize responsibilities and goals, but employees are more likely to find a mission statement meaningful and inspiring when they have a clear role in making a difference in organizational culture and performance.

Despite being no less driven nor principled than their startups counterparts, employees at large companies have less of an impact on work environments that encompass a large workforce and diversified operations.

4. Work Environment

Smaller, less entrenched customer bases, simplified products and services, and fewer employees enable startups to make quick adjustments when market conditions change. Startup companies can also afford to take more risks since they have fewer responsibilities to stakeholders outside of the company and have no public shareholders.

There is a commonly heard complaint among employees of large, well-established corporations that different departments are siloed and don’t work closely enough together. Such divisions are less defined or nonexistent in smaller corporations. The flatness of most startup agencies makes them much less hierarchical, so all personnel have got entry to leadership.

5. Core Values

The process of identifying the aspects of startup culture that should be fostered or preserved will be more successful if stakeholders focus less on what proved successful and more on why a value or practice matters to employees. As a company grows, it will necessarily change, but the underlying mission and values can remain constant.

6. Communication tactics

The technique of figuring out the elements of startup culture that ought to be fostered or preserved might be more a hit if stakeholders pay attention/ much less on what proved successful and extra on why a value or exercise topics to personnel. As a company grows, it will necessarily change, but the underlying undertaking and values can continue to be constant.

With these contributing factors, startup culture will be developed and help the startup evolve, at a good pace and in the right manner. This will help mold the startup culture characteristics.

Here are the startup culture characteristics –

  • Passion: Is the motive work doesn’t constantly experience like paintings and why the lengthy hours feel worth it. It’s what defines the lifestyles of the commercial enterprise and acts as an excellent motivator for the crew.
  • Character: Is what makes the startup unique — what can not be located everywhere else.
  • Agility: Is the capacity for understanding and records to go with the flow at a pace that substantially improves all elements of the commercial enterprise. It’s the extra visible aspect as it can be diagnosed in the manner employees paintings, workplaces are prepared and brainstorming classes are finished.
  • Authenticity: Has to do with the freedom and appreciation of each person’s own identity. Bureaucratic companies tend to have methods for the entirety and a strict choice-making chain. The opposite is in the startup tradition values.

These characteristics will become the pillars for the startup. Startup way of life is a particularly new form of painting culture aimed toward breaking down the obstacles and hurdles of boom that more set up organizations would possibly have.
